This is my first silk sheet. I have very sensitive skin that does better with silk and viscose fabrics, more so with silk, but silk is, of course, expensive, and I thought for a long time that bamboo viscose sheets and my vintage silk pajamas were enough. When I came across this fitted sheet, though, in an acceptable color, in the right size, from a brand I know and trust, at 50% of the usual price due to a warehouse deal, I decided it was worth it to try it out. And I'm really glad I did!I already have four silk body pillow cases from this brand, as well as lots of their silk sleep masks, so I knew already that they make genuine 100% natural silk products that are high quality in both the fabric and construction. This sheet is no exception. It's generously sized to help keep the corners from pulling off of the mattress, and has a strong elastic band all the way around the edge for the same reason - very effective tactics on my 10" Purple mattress, as I've had no issues at all with slipping corners. As expected, it feels delightfully luxurious to sleep on, and has given me no temperature problems so far during autumn in NorCal. It looks gorgeous on my bed, too; gray is not one of my favorite colors, but I don't dislike it either, and this very neutral, medium steel/platinum gray looks so nice in this satin-weave silk that I will probably get a matching pillowcase or two.If you've never tried silk sheets, keep in mind that they ARE slippery - I do have to readjust my duvet in the morning, though not during the night, and my body pillow and regular pillows do tend to slide down from their daytime upright position against the headboard (but to be fair, my body pillow is also covered in silk). These minor inconveniences are well worth it, to me, for the happier skin and silky feel.It's also worth the extra care that genuine silk requires. I handwash mine in the bathtub, with a little Eucalan delicate wash (a bit of gentle body wash or shampoo works too, as silk is composed of protein like skin and hair are), mainly just letting it soak for 10-15 minutes and swishing it around a bit, then hang it to dry on the shower curtain rod, folded in quarters, flipping it over after awhile. It comes out beautifully, and dries relatively quickly. I have started to get a little pilling at the foot area from my heels not being smooth enough, and have gotten a small snag or two from my finger or toenails, but that is my own fault for not making sure my feet and nails are well smoothed before going to bed. A higher momme count might be more durable, but 19 is pretty good, and the sheet is still beautiful and fully functional. Any satin-weave fabric in a fine fiber is just going to be a little more sensitive to rough surfaces, so just use files and lotion, and if you're in a cool enough place, consider thin breathable socks and even gloves if you want to keep your silk sheets pristine.Perhaps someday I'll add a silk top sheet and/or duvet cover to my collection. Meanwhile, I'll continue to enjoy this fitted sheet a great deal. Thanks, ThxSilk!
